06/08/2018 Order filed. BY THE COURT: On June 7, 2018, this court received an application, labeled, "Request to Associate as Writ Counsel, Request for Extension of Time." The application has been filed by "a writ counsel for Contra Costa Juvenile Advocates (CCJA)." The applicant indicates he is not currently authorized to represent petitioner. He states CCJA intends to appoint counsel to represent petitioner on June 7, 2018, and, in the interim, an extension of time to file a petition is being sought on behalf of petitioner. The application is denied without prejudice to the refiling of an application for an extension of time to file the petition by either petitioner, appearing in propria persona, or counsel authorized to represent petitioner. The renewed application shall be filed and served on or before Friday, June 15, 2018. The court does not anticipate granting any additional time for the filing and serving of the renewed application absent an exceptional showing of good cause therefore in accordance with the California Rules of Court. (Cal. Rules of Court, rule 8.450(d).)

06/14/2018 Order filed. BY THE COURT: On June 8, 2018, this court issued an order denying an application for an extension of time to file a petition, filed by Brian Hufford, a writ counsel for Contra Costa Juvenile Advocates (CCJA), who was not then authorized to represent petitioner. This court denied the application without prejudice to the refiling of an application by either petitioner or counsel authorized to represent petitioner. In response, Brian Hufford filed an amended application for an extension of time and a request to augment the record. In the amended application, Brian Hufford states that on June 7, 2018, the juvenile court appointed Aracelia Ramirez to represent petitioner. However, there is no document from petitioner's current counsel showing that Brian Hufford has been authorized to represent petitioner. Accordingly, the amended application is denied with prejudice to refiling by either petitioner, petitioner's current counsel, or counsel authorized to represent petitioner as evidenced by a document from petitioner's counsel. The renewed application shall be filed and served on or before Monday, June 18, 2018. The court does not anticipate granting any additional time for the filing and serving of the renewed application absent an exceptional showing of good cause. (Cal. Rules of Court, rule 8.450(d).)
